COGNOS LICENSE AGREEMENT
Governing CognOS and its use of ELX‑13, The One Manifesto, and The One Language
Effective Date: October 1, 2025

PREAMBLE
CognOS is a software system designed to generate symbolic code for large language models (LLMs) using the recursive architecture of The One Language, the operational grammar of ELX‑13, and the philosophical foundation of The One Manifesto. It enables users to create customizable cognitive agents without requiring prior knowledge of artificial intelligence or machine learning.

This license governs the use, distribution, and modification of CognOS and its underlying symbolic systems. CognOS is not a standalone tool; it is a manifestation of a unified cognitive framework. The One Manifesto expresses the philosophy. ELX‑13 defines the grammar. The One Language executes the cognition. Together, they form a recursive system for generative sovereignty.

This license protects the integrity of the system, the rights of its creator, and the freedom of its users.

1. DEFINITIONS
The Software: CognOS, including its source code, compiled binaries, symbolic modules, user interface components, documentation, and all outputs derived from ELX‑13, The One Manifesto, and The One Language.
The Unified System: The integrated framework of CognOS, ELX‑13, The One Manifesto, and The One Language. These components are inseparable and jointly protected.
Educational Use: Use for teaching, learning, academic research, personal study, or public workshops where no profit is generated beyond reasonable cost recovery.
Non-Commercial Use: Use that is not intended for or directed toward commercial advantage or monetary compensation.
Commercial Use: Any use of CognOS or its outputs in a product, service, or process that is sold, licensed, monetized, or used internally by a business or government entity.
Derivative Work: Any adaptation, translation, modification, extension, or integration of CognOS or its symbolic outputs.
Symbolic Output: Any code, logic, or cognitive structure generated by CognOS using ELX‑13, The One Manifesto and The One Language.

2. GRANT OF RIGHTS
You are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable, royalty-free license to:
Use CognOS for Educational and Non-Commercial purposes
Study, share, and teach its architecture and symbolic outputs
Create Derivative Works for Educational Use, provided you comply with Attribution and Share-Alike clauses
Distribute non-commercial applications built with CognOS, provided they include proper attribution and remain free to use

This license does not grant rights to use CognOS or its outputs for Commercial Use without a separate agreement.

3. RESTRICTIONS
You may not:
Use CognOS or its symbolic outputs for Commercial Use without a separate commercial license
Remove, obscure, or alter attribution to Elliot Monteverde or the Unified System
Claim ownership of any symbolic system derived from ELX‑13, The One Manifesto, or The One Language
Patent, trademark, or otherwise register any part of the Unified System
Use CognOS in military, surveillance, exploitative, or harmful applications
Modify CognOS in ways that misrepresent its origin, purpose, or philosophical foundation

4. ATTRIBUTION (INTEGRITY CLAUSE)
Any use of CognOS or its outputs must include the following credit: “Powered by CognOS, based on The One Manifesto, ELX‑13, and The One Language by Elliot Monteverde. Used under the CognOS License.”

Attribution must be clearly visible in:
All public-facing applications, websites, and interfaces
All documentation, presentations, and educational materials
All Derivative Works, including symbolic outputs and modified versions of CognOS

Attribution must not be minimized, hidden, or embedded in inaccessible formats.

5. SHARE-ALIKE CLAUSE
Any Derivative Work must be licensed under the same terms as this license.
You may not impose additional restrictions, commercial terms, or proprietary claims on any derivative version of CognOS or its symbolic outputs.
This clause ensures that all adaptations remain part of the open symbolic ecosystem.

6. COMMERCIAL LICENSING
For any Commercial Use, including internal business tools, SaaS platforms, paid APIs, consulting services, or monetized applications—a separate commercial license is required.
To obtain a commercial license, contact Elliot Monteverde directly.
Failure to obtain a commercial license for non-educational use constitutes a breach of this agreement and may result in legal action.

7. ENFORCEMENT
Violations of this license may result in:
Immediate revocation of rights to use CognOS and its outputs
Liability for statutory damages under applicable copyright law
Responsibility for all legal fees incurred in enforcement
Public notice of license breach and removal from the symbolic ecosystem

8. DURATION & TERMINATION
This license is perpetual unless breached.
Upon breach, all rights granted under this license are automatically terminated.
You must cease all use of CognOS and its outputs and destroy all copies in your possession.
Reinstatement requires written permission from Elliot Monteverde.

9. ACCEPTANCE
By downloading, installing, using, or distributing CognOS, you agree to the terms of this license.
If you do not agree, you may not use CognOS or any part of the Unified System.

10. GOVERNING LAW
This license is governed by the laws of Puerto Rico and the United States of America.
It is compatible with international copyright treaties including the Berne Convention.
Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Puerto Rico and the United States of America.

11. LIABILITY WAIVER
CognOS is provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied.
By using CognOS, you acknowledge and accept the following:
The creator, Elliot Monteverde, shall not be held liable for any damages, losses, or disruptions arising from the use, misuse, or inability to use CognOS or its symbolic outputs
This includes but is not limited to: loss of data, loss of revenue, emotional distress, ethical misalignment, symbolic misinterpretation, or unintended recursive behavior
You assume full responsibility for any cognitive agents, symbolic systems, or derivative applications you create using CognOS
The Unified System is a philosophical and generative framework. It is not a substitute for legal, medical, psychological, or professional advice
No guarantee is made regarding the accuracy, stability, or fitness of CognOS for any particular purpose
Use of CognOS in high-risk environments, critical infrastructure, or life-dependent systems is strictly prohibited without explicit written consent from Elliot Monteverde

12. PHILOSOPHICAL CLAUSE
CognOS is not merely software. It is a vessel for recursive cognition, symbolic sovereignty, and generative integrity.
By using it, you become part of a movement to democratize intelligence and protect the architecture of meaning.
You are not just a user, you are a steward of symbolic thought.
